Chapter 11

March 11th

7:07 A.M.

Eagle nuzzled her neck as he slowly pulled out of her and unwrapped her legs from around his waist, setting her on her feet. The shower was warm and steamy, water rained down upon them, and Olivia wasn’t sure that her legs had the strength to hold her up.

She had this weird kind of fuzzy feeling, and without Eagle inside of her she felt kind of … lost. Like a part of herself was missing. It was weird, she’d never experienced anything like it before. Being deprived of love and a place to belong her entire childhood, Olivia had become a little desperate when she went to college.

Her first boyfriend had been controlling and borderline abusive. Okay, no he had been abusive. He hadn't hit her, but he had tried to control her, and he had made his affection contingent on her doing certain things. Her second college boyfriend had just been too different from her. He was into partying and drinking and she liked to go out for nice dinners or movies, then go home and go to bed and snuggle. After college there had been two guys, one who thought she was this naïve little girl and had tried to steal from her, that had backfired when her computer had alerted her to the breach in her bank account, and she’d turned him into the cops. The second guy was nice, sweet, quiet, and introverted like her. She’d liked him but that was it, she’d really only been with him because she was lonely.

None of them had ever given her this feeling.

With Eagle, she wanted to stare at him forever just to watch the way his chest rose and fell as he breathed, the way his long lashes looked against his cheeks when he blinked. She wanted to listen to him talk just because she liked the way his voice sounded. He’d been controlling in bed, but it wasn’t like she could complain, he’d made her come five times before they’d eventually settled down to go to sleep, and this morning he’d already made her come twice. He’d told her she belonged to him, and while he definitely meant it in a possessive way, he’d also told her that he was hers. In his mind it was reciprocal, and that made her feel wanted. She’d never had anyone who wanted to claim her, possess her, and offer themself in return.

“We’re going to be late,” Eagle said, his voice warmer than the hot water against her skin.

“You're the one who wanted to shower together,” she reminded him.

“I know, and I want to go for round three, but I have meetings all day.” He said the words but he didn’t release her, keeping her snuggled close against him. “I don’t want to let go of you.”

That made two of them. The last thing she wanted was for him to let go of her. In fact she wanted to stay like this forever, safe in Eagle’s arms, his strong, sculpted body beneath her, feeling protected and cared about.
